- The surface of the human trachea is lined with ciliated cells that continuously vibrate at a rate of about 1500 times per minute, secreting mucus from the inner wall of the trachea.
- Dust, dirt, and bacteria that have entered the respiratory tract are trapped in this mucus and expelled from the body through the vibration of cilia, providing a natural cleansing effect.
- When the throat becomes inflamed and irritated due to overuse, smoking, or exposure to dirty air, phlegm can get stuck, reducing the cleansing ability and leading to coughing.
- At such times, taking Ryukakusan activates the secretion of mucus on the tracheal surface, enhances ciliary movement, removes phlegm, and has cough-suppressing and anti-inflammatory effects, primarily due to the effective ingredient saponin in balloon flower.
