Alpro Pharmacy Launches Free Medication Programme For Flood Victims

Several states in Malaysia are facing severe flooding after continuous monsoon rains. In response, Alpro Pharmacy, the country’s largest prescription pharmacy chain, is providing assistance to affected communities.

To prevent interruptions in treatment for patients with chronic illnesses, Alpro Pharmacy and Alpro ePharmacy have launched the Life-Saving Medication Care Programme. This initiative provides verified flood victims with a one-time supply of up to seven days of chronic medication at no cost.

The programme is fully funded by the Alpro Foundation, reflecting its mission of Bringing Hope and Changing Lives.

Pharmacist Lim En Ni, Chief Pharmacist and Director of Engagement at Alpro Pharmacy, highlighted the heightened health risks during floods. She explained that rising waters increase the chances of infectious diseases and complications for those with long-term illnesses, including leptospirosis, cholera, dengue, and various skin infections.

Patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease are particularly vulnerable if their medications are interrupted.

Pharmacist Lim urged the public to watch for symptoms including fever, diarrhea, vomiting, headaches, rashes or sudden weakness.

She stressed the importance of seeking medical attention immediately if any symptoms appear, noting that early intervention can prevent serious complications.

Flood victims in need of chronic medication can visit any of Alpro Pharmacy’s 300 outlets nationwide, with a police report of the flood incident required for verification.

Those who have lost their prescriptions can use Alpro ePharmacy for free online consultation and e-prescription services to receive their medications. All support provided through this programme is funded by the Alpro Foundation.
