Allergic rhinitis, also known as hay fever, is a condition where the immune system overreacts to things in the environment that most people don’t have a problem with. It’s not necessary for us to be near hay or have a fever to experience symptoms.
When allergens like dust mites, mould, pet dander, and pollen are breathed in, the body releases a natural chemical called histamine, causing an allergic reaction. This reaction can lead to several familiar symptoms such as red eyes, runny nose and an itchy throat.
